“I copied this verbatim from one of those vapid Internet articles
reporting ‘entertainment news’ (referring in this case to a young starlet):

‘Nothing phases this girl.’

The word he wanted was, of course, fazes.
My dictionary defines faze as: ‘to disturb the composure or courage of; daunt.’
It doesn’t have phase as a verb at all, except as ‘phase in’ or ‘phase out.’
Maybe if we're lucky, something will happen to ‘phase out’ this particular starlet,
in which case she might finally become ‘fazed.’”
